Early Life
Esther was born into a family of singers who took their involvement in church activities with seriousness.
She was brought up by a single mother who had previously worked at a chop house as a dish washer and cleaner.
Piesie Esther claimed that she endured the harshest circumstances as a result of their father forsaking them in the village at Nsuta Atonsu when they were very little.
To help her mother, she took up menial work as a “weeder,” and she even climbed trees to gather fruit for food.
When they moved to Kumasi, where she found work as a supporting vocalist and started her singing career, life became more stable.
Career
Her career was launched when she joined the Great Light Worship Center in Accra, which is run by Rev. Asamoah Boateng, also known as Apae Live, who produced the first two albums.
She Later Released Ziba Beko As Her 3rd Album In 2011 And Followed Up With Agye Won Nsem Album In 2016.
She released a worship album titled Osore3 Mu Tumi in 2017.
In 2019, Piesie Esther Later Dropped ‘Maseda Kɛseɛ’ My Great Thanks, And Was Followed With ‘Wobɛdi Adanseɛ’ You Will Testify In 2021.
In an interview on Hitz FM’s entertainment show Daybreak Hitz hosted by Doreen Avio, she explained that her stage name, Piesie Esther is not her real name.was given to her by a prophet after a powerful ministration in church.
In her words: “Piesie is not my real name. My stage name was initially Ohemaa Esther. But one day after I had delivered a powerful ministration in church, the pastor called Andrew advised me to change my name to Piesie. He told me the Holy Spirit ministered that to him”.
Opiesie excels at performing with live bands, unlike some of her fellow gospel singers who are more at ease singing to playbacks.
Through her songs, she sincerely hopes to inspire people to develop a closer relationship with God. She is a dynamic worship leader who coordinates worship services all around the world. She has traveled to numerous nations for her ministry, including the USA, Italy, Belgium, Canada, Holland, and Germany.
Currently, she has serves as the Deaconess of the Church of Pentecost and she is propagating the gosple through her music and ministration.
Awards And Recognitions
The popularity of her second album, Me Nti Asie, contributed to her being nominated for the 2009 Ghana Music Awards’ categories for Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year. She was pleased that the nominations made her more well-known even though she did not succeed in any of the categories.
She won the Gospel Song and Artiste of the Year awards at the 2023 VGMA awards with ‘Way3 me yie’.
